NEIL Lennon wants to bring the buzz back to Wanderers next season and etch his name into the club's history.
The Whites boss is busy looking for reinforcements for his squad this summer in readiness for what he hopes will be an all-out assault on the top end of next season's Championship.
He believes he already has the nucleus of a good squad and wants to build on that with the ultimate aim of getting the club back into the Premier League.
Lennon told the club: "We have a good nucleus of a squad that we are really excited about allied to that with some of the younger players coming through.
"We feel we are building something here, not just for next year but the next two or three years.
"The club finds itself in probably not as good or as prosperous a position as maybe four or five years ago but that’s natural because we are not in the Premier League.
"To say the club is in decent health would probably be more accurate really – it’s not all doom and gloom as people make it out to be.
"The ultimate aim is to get back into the Premier League.
"We were an established Premier League club for a long period of time.
"I know the fans want to taste that again.
"If you look at Sam (Allardyce) and what he achieved here then that’s the benchmark.
"I want to try to reach that. I want to be part of the club's history and create my own here."
Lennon admits it was a disappointing end to last season but believes the number of injuries hampered the side.
Next season, he wants his side to be fitter and injury-free.
He added: "The last couple of months of the season were difficult.
"We couldn’t get any consistency in terms of team selection.
"At one stage of the season we had 12 injuries and that was almost impossible to manage.
"We lost big players like (Max) Clayton, (Zach) Clough, (Darren) Pratley, (Adam) Bogdan and (David) Wheater – all who would probably hold down a regular place in the team.
"That would affect any team as they were long-term injuries.
"I think that was a problem throughout the season really with the amount of injuries that we had.
"What we need to do is try to keep the squad fresh and fit for next season.
"We have to maintain a level of consistency next year to get us up and around the top and get a bit of a buzz going again."
