Departing goalkeeper pens open message to Bolton Wanderers following confirmation of his move to Liverpool
I would like to say thank you to Bolton Wanderers for giving me the opportunity to fulfil my dream and become a professional football player in England. It was eight years ago when I first came to the club and I feel Bolton have helped make me the player I am today.

I have to say a thank you to all of my coaches during my time at the club, as every one of them has contributed something towards my game. A huge thank you also goes to the fans. I have fond memories of you all and it makes it really hard to leave the football club.

However, I have been given a fantastic chance in my life to join Liverpool Football Club and I would like to make the most of this opportunity. I’m looking forward to the next chapter of my career, but I will never forget the time I have spent at Bolton.

I wish everyone associated with the club all the very best.

Thank you,

Adam Bogdan

Liverpool offered free sunscreen which will save him more than he earned with us. He got sunburnt playing in sleet

i have nothing against him, but he must be happy sitting on the bench unless he really thinks he can dislodge Mignolet (its possible i suppose as he's average at best). Again as with Morgan money talks and ambition takes a back seat

I'm amazed to be reading stuff like this, Liverpools a great move for Bogdan. Mignolet has been so poor even Brad Jones got a run last year, Bogdan will get a shot at the number one spot. How can anyone blame him for going to try and be the keeper for one of the biggest clubs in the world?

Too easy to call him a money grabbing wanker, footballers are ambitious like anyone else. Fair play to Bogdan.

Good luck to him he can be No 1 at Liverpool and we have a quality replacement with Amos.

he wasn't even a guarenteed number 1 for us so why will he suddenly be good enough to be Liverpool no 1? Brad Jones has gone and all Bogdan is is his replacement on the bench.

Sorry Norpig, can't agree with that. Every manager has made Bogdan their number 1 since Coyle, injuries were all that stopped him starting every week.

You may be right and he won't take off there, but can you blame him for trying? Once in a lifetime opportunity, if he's sat on his arse for 2 years he'll leave and still be reasonably young for a keeper.

Can't blame him (or anyone really) for wanting to better themselves.

As it stands at Liverpool now he is the number two keeper, so unless they bring someone else in above his head he will get games - even if only in cup runs.

Their number one keeper was droped last season, so doesn't have the full confidence of their manager - who did like what he saw with Bogdan in our cup games with them - so getting the number one position at Anfield, I think, is a realistic possibility - whether he could keep it though is another matter!

I've not liked Bogdan for much of his career - why he pushed shots out to incoming forwards rather than to push them behind or wide I could never understand - and as a defender you could never count on him not to fuck up - which you had to cover for - and so made defending deeper and invited the opposition to be in your half of the field more - not a good thing.

However after being dropped the season before last he's come back to play outstandingly - fair play to him for that.

So if you were Bogdan - at his age - would you back yourself to make a go at it with a club that should be contesting Champions League places or try to keep a team who as just been gazumped by a league division three club for a defender who by the looks of it was going to be the lynchpin of your defensive cover in the Championship?

He owes the club nothing after years of having to play behind the likes of Knight, Wheater and Mills.

If a thirty year old free transfer from Rotherham was the best the team was going to give for defensive protection can you really blame him for jumping when Liverpool wanted him?

Totally and unequivocally agree with you on this.  His contract ran out... he had an incredible offer to join one of the big clubs in the top league, and he had the courtesy to thank us for his years at Bolton.  Just wish him luck and hope we sign Amos and he plays well for us for many years to come.

What utter wank. All to often footballers are happier with a paycheck than actually playing and it pisses me off. "Hes had a good offer" "hes bettering himself" all complete bullshit. He is warming the bench of a bigger club fair enough. He is now going to be a number 2 keeper. Playing the odd cup match and reserve game. Rather than pay week in week out. Yeah he's really bettering himself

Sorry Johnny, but that's just a complete load of rubbish mate. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity with a real chance of becoming first choice keeper, give the lad a break.

Even if mingerlet ( Smile ) got seriously injured Bogdan would only be used until they could get someone else then he would be back to being number 2.
