Neil Lennon says his side need to start converting their chances after being edged out by a solitary goal at MK Dons on Tuesday evening.
Substitute Daniel Powell netted the only goal of the game, as Bolton created but failed to convert a number of opportunities in front of the MK Dons goal.
And speaking after the game the manager said his side were good ‘tee to green’, but that they must now start ‘holing some putts’ to avoid being left behind.
“We’re playing well,” Lennon said after the game. “I think that is a game that has got away from us, because we were in control for large periods.
“We missed good chances, and that’s the only source of frustration for me tonight.
“When the game is at 0-0 you know that anything could happen. I don’t know what happened for their goal, whether Lawrie has let the ball roll under his foot or he’s miss-controlled it.
“But that’s not where we lost the game tonight, it was at the other end. Tee to green we’re playing really well, we just need to start holing some putts.
“We were well off the pace against Middlesbrough, but I thought we played well tonight. Three of the four games we’ve had so far we’ve done well. We are creating chances but just snatching at them right now. We’re lacking that bit of composure in front of goal.
“It’s sometimes the finish, sometimes the final pass, but that is the most important part of football, putting the ball in the net.
“The game was there for the taking for us. We didn’t deserve to lose, but we have to find the recipe to start scoring.”
