I suppose it depends.
If you were being told in Turkey that you weren't wanted because there was no room for you and your family but you heard that Germany would welcome you with open arms and the only way to get there was via the Greek Islands, it's possibly a risk you'd take.
Especially if the guy you'd paid to get you there was guaranteeing you passage on a safe boat which you'd board "by getting on this dinghy" and rowing out to it.
I don't know all the facts and nor does anybody else who's commenting on here from the safety of their comfy homes in England but one thing's for sure - these people are desperate.
And desperate people aren't always in the best frame of mind for making important decisions.
