Nottingham Forest set to sign out-of-favour midfielder Liam Trotter
Dougie Freedman is set to swoop for his former charge Liam Trotter on loan.
The Nottingham Forest boss is hoping to bring the midfielder in on a one-month deal in time to face Bristol City this weekend.
Freedman signed Trotter from Millwall in January 2014, initially on loan for a reported fee of £70,000, but in the summer he signed a three-year deal to stay permanently at the Macron Stadium.
After a difficult first few months at the club he scored a sensational goal at Sheffield Wednesday in the penultimate game of the season and looked set to be a key member of Freedman's squad.
But fitness problems hampered his progress and by the time Freedman was replaced by Lennon 12 months ago he was on the fringes of the first team squad.
He was made available for loan at the start of the season and played just a couple of minutes of football against Derby County on the opening day.
Freedman has now looked to secure the 27-year-old's signature for a second time on a short-term deal, which could free up some funds for Lennon in his chase for a striker.

I thought Dougie didn't like going back to previous clubs for players?

Freedman gave Trotter a second chance by offering him a contract with us. Clearly didn't work out, now he wants to sign him yet again at Forest. Interesting style of football management, makes you think we might have missed a trick firing him off.

I thought this was a joke thread. Liam Trotter would surely make the top 5 worst BWFC players of all time. An absolute joke of a player. The most lightweight of all lightweight ponces.
Laughable.
Wanderlust will still try and convince us Dougie is Pep Guardiola.

Very witty - right up there with your "armchair fan" routine.Natasha Whittam wrote:

Unsurprisingly, you're wrong yet again. Pep Guardiola was given more time and money than Dougie so they're not really comparable.
Still doing better than Lennon unfortunately.
TBF I do enjoy both your jokes although I've long since given up hope of you ever getting any new material.

Trotter's got all the attributes to be a useful player in this league, his problem has always been a mental one. If somebody could get him motivated he'd do well.

If Peter Kay can do it, so can I.

Peter Kay never had any original material to start off with so I think you should aim higher.
