We can't actually afford to buy the actifry when it's in the black Friday sale let alone a Ukrainian striker on loan.Chairmanda wrote:what is this thing called actifry? A ukranian striker we are getting in on loan?

We have one and I can heartily recommend them. A bit pricey but great for chips and you only need one tablespoon of sunflower oil to cook a family sized portion. Eliminates the smell of the chop pan and no splashing of oil or mess. Dead easy to clean and best of all much better for the arteries. We bought one a few years ago and we haven't used a chip pan since. The key to getting the chips just right is to make sure after you have peeled your spuds that you totally dry off your spuds with kitchen roll or whatever takes your fancy. It really is a great bit of kit.

We bought our Tefal actifry from Currys and it was £149. Dear but worth it.

Kids don't like oven chips and hate the fact we stopped deep frying chips.

Kids believe whatever you tell them. Tell them they're deep fried even if they're not. They will eat them. The other week I told my oldest we were having lamb casserole when it was beef because he doesn't like beef casserole but loves the lamb. He said it was the nicest casserole he's ever had.

I must admit I do not like oven chips. I have tried them all including McCains but for me they just taste pretty bland. I don't think you can beat the taste of proper chips. The beauty of the Tefal Actifry is that you can have your chips as brown as you like as there are a number of different settings. It isn't just confined to cooking chips either. You get a food guide with it together with all the settings. A big plus for me is that you don't have the smell of chip fat lingering in your kitchen and with just one tablespoon of sunflower oil ( or any oil for that matter) the chips are not saturated in fat. Plus it's dead easy to clean as it comes apart in sections.
