The other week I told my oldest we were having lamb casserole when it was beef because he doesn't like beef casserole but loves the lamb. He said it was the nicest casserole he's ever had.

Very true is that!

The only oven chips I can tolerate are Aunt Bessie's crinkle cut.

Certainly the best I've tasted.

Do you use it enough to justify the high price tag RT?

My concern is that eventually maybe after the novelty of using it wears off then it will be another expensive gadget sat at the back of the cupboard.

Another tidy bit of kit I can recommend is a portable Halogen oven. Great for cooking a chicken etc and all the fat just drains away. I think I paid £49 for mine and we don't roast chickens in the oven any more.

Well...coming from oop North I must admit I like my chips. We probable use it at least once a fortnight. In fact, every time we have chips.

I buy Aunt Bessie's Yorkshire puddings and they are good.

My missus is obsessed with coconut oil. She uses it for cooking. Can we use that do you think? Bloody stuff costs about 8 quid a tub but its organic and fair trade apparently. She could be putting that money towards a wedding dress Wink

The chubbier we make them, the more pies and burgers they will eat at the match, thus pumping much needed extra revenue into the club. If you were a true Bolton fan you would have six kids minimum and make them fat bastards in an effort to look after the long term interests of the club. You're clearly a shit fan.

Johnny tell her what you have said here and give her a litre of sunflower oil on, much cheaper and will still give her that lovely shiny skin. Very Happy

I have never tried cooking with coconut oil but just recently it has been touted as another so called super-food. I'm really not sure whether it would work because coconut flavoured chips is not something I have tried. It could turn out to be the next culinary breakthrough of our generation! You could always try it with one spud and see how you go.

My daughter is going to get one of these Actifry things, and she's fanatic about healthy food, with the occasional sojourn ino chips, so this is ideal, she tells me, for al sorts of food.

I'm somewhat of a culinary lightweight but I do enjoy watching cookery programmes. Great British MasterChef, Saturday Kitchen with James Martin, Professional Masterchef ( which is on at the moment) Ramsays Kitchen nightmares etc etc are all staple viewing in the Trotter household.
A few months ago I was watching a cookery programme where they were praising the benefits of coconut oil.

I'm no salesman but I can certainly recommend the Actifry. For me, it's the closest thing to Chippy chips except that the potatoes haven't been deep fried. It's a much healthier option and although they are not cheap, the long term benefits make up for the cost.
