Neil Lennon wants a speedy resolution to Wanderers’ cash-flow problems after his players were left unpaid in November.
The Whites boss has confirmed he will meet with the squad tomorrow for a briefing at Euxton to explain the “short-term funding issue” which came to light just hours before the 1-1 home draw with Brentford. Lennon expects some clarification on the ongoing ownership negotiations but does not want the issue to act as a distraction to his players.
“They have still got a job to do,” he told The Bolton News. “There will be a meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) with Trevor Birch and probably a rep from the PFA.
“We will make sure they get their wages paid. I’ve told the players that.”
Goalkeeper Ben Amos confirmed that players were told on Monday morning that they had not been paid.
Lennon said he had been made aware of the possibility last week and insists he has been kept in the loop by Birch, who was installed as a financial advisor to the board in the absence of seriously-ill chairman Phil Gartside.
“I have been briefed by Trevor and know there are some investors who have shown an interest but there’s nothing concrete or any confirmation on it,” he said.
“We have this meeting and clarification will be given to me and the players about the current situation.”
