Seems that way. They spent weeks persuading him to stay and then when he agrees they sack him.

Maybe they'd assumed he was going and had lined up someone else?

Gary Monk got the push from Swansea today. I thought he did a decent job when he took over from Brendan Rodgers. Another young English manager given the chop without being given enough time.

In fairness to Swansea, 1 win in 11 is pretty alarming form and apparently he'd fallen out with Jonjo and Ashley Williams. Said it before but if you lose the dressing room you're fucked, the players have the power - unless of course you can spend £100 million to replace them all ala Jose Mourinho in 2016.

A bit harsh considering he led them to their highest ever finish last season while playing some great stuff at the same time. Every manager hits a rough patch at some point. To fire him without giving him a bit more time to turn it round is definitely harsh on him. Looked a good young manager for a long time there. They've pushed the panic button a little too early for me.

I agree.Monk had to sell Mido and Wilfried Boney as well. He should have been given more time. Rodgers has apparently turned the job down so the club are looking at David Moyes or Gus Poyet who is currently at AEK Athens.

Bit harsh on Monk. I think he'd earned the right to bit of a blip. He's not become a duffer overnight.

Who is Mido? Apart from the fat Egyptian that played for Boro and Wigan.Reebok Trotter wrote:Bwfc1958 wrote:A bit harsh considering he led them to their highest ever finish last season while playing some great stuff at the same time. Can't put any weight behind Monk losing Michu, he never really had him.
