So what happened to the link between the club and the official supporters association ?

Never existed if truth be known.
Folk like Fat Phil and Warburtons wouldn't want those who know nothing about football involved!
Always been the same.
Get 10000 folk signed up as an example and only gates of say 11000, need I say anymore?

Nothing - it is still there.

The only difference between an ST and the Bolton Wanderers Supporters Association is that the ST can own shares or property, it can ultimately own the club, and at the very least, own a shareholding.

If the only significant difference between an SA and a ST is that one can't 'own' the club or part of it - then what do you suspect the motive of setting up the ST in the first place is?

Answers on a post card please.

Did you do that on purpose to set me off?
Sorry amigo...why would that set you off? Which bit? I was just stating a fact to demonstrate that club ownership is not common amongst STs. There's a big difference between having representation and running the show and I think most fans just want the former.

Sluffy the fans have never been considered as long as I can remember, except of course, when the shit hits the fan, Lifeline, share issues. Fat Phil doesn't give a flying about the fans and can't think of any past chairman that has.

It's only tin pot if anybody thinks this is a serious attempt to takeover the club.

If it provides a clearer source of communication with the club then that's a big positive.

They obviously think it's a serious attempt to takeover the club.

Fact is I suspect most of these people think they'll be telling the manager what tactics to use and who to sign, they spent their lives doing it on twitter.

Wasn't that the job Azreal claimed he was given?

Top job Azreal.

that's not what came across to me last night. They want to get some representation on the board and even the Pompey people were saying it would be tough for a trust to run a club at Championship level.

Can we stop all this ST bashing until we know who will be on the board and what their plans are please? They may not be everyones cup of tea but they are at least trying to do something about our current situation

If they gave a toss about what the fans think would they have foisted Megson on us when not a single one was in favour. Doubt it.

Listing numbers written in words and numerals in the same line.

Big no-no, as you well know-know.

I don't see how you think that's obvious, unless they've got a spare £18 million knocking around then they don't have any serious ambition to take over the club at this point.

All of my posts are a model of concise, crisp, to the point writing and I never use two or more words where one would do absolutely fine and clearly express the concept I am attempting to communicate to the other users on the Bolton Nuts Internet Forum either in Bolton Wanderers Banter, Bolton Wanderers News or Wandering Minds which are the three main areas of the Bolton Nuts Forum Website.

I am sure that sluffy, karlypants, Natasha Whittam, Boltonbonce, Boggersbelief, Hipster_Nebula, Biggie, Chairmanda, y2johnny and many, many others will attest to the fact that I am in no way verbose at any time and that they often wish my posts were longer. Smile

I am the very model of brevity, the soul of clarity, the blueprint for how a short, crisp, single word post can communicate even the most complex and multi-layered of concepts to my fellow posters on the Bolton Nuts Internet Forum Website and it's accompanying and excellent News and Articles site that is occasionally referred to on the Bolton Nuts Internet Forum Website as the "Weebly." I am genuinely shocked that you make an inference, you actually imply, you almost openly state that my posts are too long as if I am the sort of person who would procrastinate a single word post into a diatribe that would allow War And Peace to be compared to a single panel from a single page of a single issue of The Beano Illustrated Comic Weekly.   Evil or Very Mad

Seems thats the intent reading the original post thats quoting the main players.

To be honest I couldn't give a toss either way about the ST similarly too the BWSA.

My view (if anybody gives a fuck about it) is that anybody buying the club - and somebody will - either before or after Administration, will want to run it as a business - and not to throw their money down a big hole.  Why then would they do anything other than play lip service to a ST - just as in the same way Davies/Gartside and all before them have done to the Supporters Association?

The only hope of the ST having any real say in running the club is if it goes into Administration, that it can raise some significant money itself (we are talking say a couple of million) and that it can find multiple rich individuals or businesses (Portsmouth had to find 16 of them) to provide the lions share of money to complete the purchase of the club out of the Administration.

This clearly isn't going to happen quickly, so it is to my mind looking to be in place for a future Administration once the next owners of the club decide to bail out.

This scenario isn't as far fetched as it sounds as the Portsmouth ST acquired the club after a number of Administrations in a relatively short period of time.

As for the ST itself, yes anyone can stand for office and be voted in - but in reality if you don't know anything much about the people who have got it off the ground so far - and they put themselves up for election - then realistically how many people will not vote for them - most people obviously will.

I've had dealings with one of them and I certainly would never vote for him.

Two of the Steering Committee and others attempted to 'hi-jack' the BWSA association a couple of years ago before they were 'deselected' - maybe they had a similar experience to mine?

Anyway the momentum is behind the ST and no doubt it will be established in due course.  Maybe they will influence the future owners of the club for the benefit of the rest of us or take over some or all of the club and return us to the Premier League again but I personally doubt it.

That for what it is worth is what I think on the matter.

if we aren't happy with the people running it then we all need to join and make our feelings known and put other people forward.

We have people on here who would be fantastic even if it's only in an advisory role, people like Rammy and Manda instantly spring to mind.

I don't know the back story to all the people involved other than the bits i've read on here but honestly Crispy came across well to me last night and didn't seem to be in it for what he could get. He seemed to be thoroughly invested in doing something to benefit the supporters and the club.

I could be completely wrong but we have to give them a chance don't we?
