But it is nearly impossible to find a pundit that ticks all the boxes to be fair.
You get somebody like Heskey who's there for no other reason than the fact that everybody knows who he is.
But then they bring in somebody who hardly anybody knows and it's a case of "who the fuck is this guy, and what has he ever done to deserve an opinion on football?"
Some fat American bloke who ITV always have on springs to mind.
Gary Neville is a rare balance between a) everybody knows who is and b) knows what he's talking about.

I think it's laughable that Emile Heskey gets so much grief, yes he's past his best but the guy spent the majority of his career in the premier league and has 62 England caps. He knows a hell of a lot more about football than we do

Stephen Hawkings knows a hell of a lot about black holes and inter stellar physic's- but listening to him is a bit of a chore.. Nobody is saying that Heskey doesn't know a lot- but being a TV pundit demands a lot more thanĀ simply knowledge.

I thought he came across really well when he was a pundit last season when we played Liverpool at home

Speak for yourself.
I've forgotten more than Heskey will ever know.
