I did a bit of coarse fishing when I was a kid and float fishing is pretty damn boring as nowt happens and you're waiting for some random fish to come to your bait so you need a vivid imagination to pass the time - basically because you're waiting for something to come to you. Spinning was marginally more interesting as you're watching what's happening and doing something all the time. Fly fishing was good because you're seeing what's hatching and where the fish are rising, it keeps you busy and it actually feels like you're hunting something - a particular fish - and there's a lot of skill, knowledge and technique involved. But the fact that I haven't done any form of fishing for 30 years or more tells it's own story.

i used to share a house with a bloke who was mad on fishing, he would camp out overnight with his little tent and a camping stove, never saw the attraction myself. He also used to stink the house out making boilies which are apparently some kind of fish bait

Tinned Toms - You know it makes sense!
My dad used to go fishing on the lodge at doffcocker so i went with him a few times. I was never really that into it but enjoyed the time spent with my dad as he unsuccessfully tried to teach me how to fish. Fond memories that I look back on now that he's no longer with us.

Fishing is one of the most popular pastimes around - but so too is darts.
God bless America for coming up with a way of combining the two.
Unless you've been in a survival situation you've probably never even thought of throwing anything at fish....

It's bad form to play with your rod on the toilet.
Unless it's 1984 and your Mum's new GUS catalogue's just arrived.
(Ladies Underwear pages 140 - 195.)
Then it's ok.
