Well I was sat near the bench and that's what appeared to happen.

He had a half chance, he wasted it (I know, the shock), then seemed to just walk off the pitch and down the tunnel. Lennon looked as puzzled as anyone and Ameobi had to be brought on suddenly.

Any inside information on this?

He seemed to just walk off, didn't look injured, didn't receive treatment.

It all happened so fast, everyone seemed to think he had walked off in a strop.

BN reports that he 'voluntarily limped off'.

What? He had a limp so went off voluntarily, or he had a voluntary limp and went off?

Saw him rubbing his groin area as he trudged off. I'd like to think it was a strain but there again he may have been proving everyone who calls him a wanker correct.

There are two versions of this.

I was sat behind the goal.

Madine appeared to be ahead of the defence and through on goal, 20 odd yards out.  He suddenly and inexplicably stopped his run on goal. He held the ball up for a moment and then played it right to another player who was running through on goal but went on to miss. Madine then limped straight over to the touchline rolling his fingers too signal he needed to be subbed.

Version 1.
He genuinely pulled something as he got clear and so had to stop his run.  He then limped off injuered.

Version 2.
He bottled it. Thought he would miss a 1 on 1 and stopped running because he didnt know what to do. When the chance was eventually wasted everyone booed and shouted abuse. So he feinged an injury as an excuse for bottling a chance.

Reminds me of Abdoulaye Meite when he wouldn't come on for the second half against Utd.
