Wanderers successfully held off interest from Reading to keep hold of Rob Holding on transfer deadline day, The Bolton News understands.
Neil Lennon confirmed that a bid was received for the 20-year-old defender, whose contract expires at the end of this season.
The Whites boss has called on the club to offer him a new deal as quickly as possible but was reassured by the fact they refused to cash-in on Monday after the Royals came forward with a bid.
“We did lose Prince, Pisano and Casado but thankfully we kept hold of our main players,” he said. “We had a bid come in for Rob Holding, which was turned down, so that gives us something to hold on to and build on.
“You saw against Wolves what their quality is once they put their minds to it.
“Now they have to be consistent. There’s a big game at the weekend and if we build on that performance we’re right in there again.”
