Jimmy Phillips says Wanderers will examine whether to appeal Rob Holding’s red card against Reading.
The young defender was sent off by referee Geoff Eltringham for a professional foul during the first half of the Whites’ 1-0 defeat.
Holding will now miss Tuesday night’s game against Brentford unless the club lodge an appeal in the next 24 hours.
“I think it’s something the club will look at,” Phillips told The Bolton News.
“Simon Marland is the key person to speak to. He has been through the process before and might know the incidents we’ll have a chance to appeal.
“Robert was devastated at half time but it’s part and parcel of the game. If he is going to go and have the career we think he’ll have, these incidents will happen.
“From Rob’s point of view it was a last-ditch tackle. Not being in that position in the first place would be the key to it next time.”
