Watching a match on TV a few years back someone missed a sitter from about a yard out and the commentator said: "he's walking away and he's hanging his head to the heavens"

A bad workman never blames his tools.
I have also recently heard... A good workman always blames his tools.

As clear as a whistle.
I am sure its supposed to be as clear as a bell. And as clean as a whistle.... isnt it?

Also a lot of people say: first come, first serve. What suggests whoever gets there first, serves everyone who follows. It should be first come, first served! Really makes my blood boil does this one.

Off topic but this thread reminds me of something that happened a couple of weeks ago...
A few days before Martin Luther King day we got an email from HR saying something to the effect of...
'Monday, January 18th is MLK day and the office will be closed blah blah blah...'
On reading the email a young designer I had just hired piped up 'what's MILK day?'. My boss just glanced up at me and said 'is that the amazing new designer you just convinced me to hire?'.
