Wanderers are expected to announce the departure of first-team coach Garry Parker and assistant manager Steve Walford today.

After the departure of Neil Lennon by mutual consent, and agreement had not yet been struck with his backroom staff as The Bolton News went to press last night.

Jimmy Phillips has been put in temporary charge and is expected to stay in the role until the end of the season.

Dean Holdsworth has pledged to back him with support staff, if necessary, and that could lead to a return for Julian Darby, who has been out of work since leaving Leeds United last October. The lifelong Wanderers fan has been a regular presence at home games ever since.

Meanwhile, on the playing front Liam Feeney has spoken with Ipswich Town about a loan move until the end of the season.

The winger is out of contract in the summer and one of the higher earners in the squad.

Likewise, Jay Spearing’s representatives are also sounding out clubs about a potential loan move, with Liverpool refusing thus far to budge on deferring a £100,000 payment owed to them when he makes his next league start.
