Filip Twardzik is hoping to earn a deal with Czech side Slavia Prague.

The utility man, signed in February last year by Neil Lennon, has been told he can leave Wanderers and is now on trial in his home country.

Twardzik scored on his Whites debut at Nottingham Forest but has made just one start ever since.

The 23-year-old has featured regularly in a holding midfield role for the development squad but with too much competition in the first team, the club have given their blessing for him to try to earn a contract elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Wanderers head to Cardiff today without the injured Mark Davies.

Jimmy Phillips has confirmed a minor knee injury suffered in Tuesday night’s goalless draw with Charlton Athletic will prevent him from travelling to South Wales.

Gary Madine has also shelved his first-team return after having a pain-killing injection to settle a hip injury.

Phillips is due to name a handful of untested youngsters in his squad against the Bluebirds.

“It’s a chance for a few of the younger ones to get an opportunity and see what the future holds for the club,” he said.

“That future will be based upon, as far as I’m aware, the lower salary earners. That marries up to the younger players.”
