That settles that then. Can we vote again?

57,000 Scots died in WW2 alone. Surely they're worthy of a little respect?

Did you have a bet on Brexit Archie? You could have got 1-3 on with Skybet to remain in Europe. Only 5-2 on us leaving.

I wish he'd get back on the racing thread. It's like seeing Angela Rippon's legs.

Where's the evidence that was going to happen though?

Surely you are not naive enough to realise that the whole point of the EU was to create a Federal Europe?

Can't blame people for holding such views, it's a sign of the times but how do you fight themthough? Very difficult really, you can blame anything and everything on immigration. Argue that it's not and you're just a hippy according to some. Hard to see a way back for progressive politics IMO.

Could you show me the evidence? We'd opted out of 'ever closer union' so I'm struggling to be honest.

Having given it some more thought this is what I think will happen moving forward, there is a lot of scaremongering from the side of the remains, about isolation, financial ruin and rampant inflation. On the side of the leavers there's almost a euphoria that immigration will stop, public services will become twice as good and we will become a global superpower.
Two very different views and both wildly unrealistic, with or without we are one of the strongest economies in the world never mind Europe so people will still want to do business with us, there will be posturing and bad feelings but people will get over it because not to would be cutting off their noses to spite their faces. We won't become isolated once the dust has settled.
Immigration isn't going to stop people will always move around, they did before the EU and they will when it's gone, and services aren't going to miraculously improve, the biggest difference is that we will make a lot more of our own decisions and we will have control over things we currently don't have control of.
We will have to go back to doing deals with people and no doubt we will have to butter a few people back up, but we are a strong economy, we have respect around the world and we remain in a much stronger position than people are suggesting.
In my opinion

Don't worry, the old fool doesn't know what's going on. I've been collecting his pension for three months, and he doesn't suspect a thing.
This prosthetic chin is a pain in the arse though.
