I'd almost forgotten what a great, feel good tune this is until I heard the Gloria Gaynor version on the radio just now.

Still prefer this one though:

My Dad used to throw things at the telly every time Jimmy Somerville came on.

Shoes generally.

Chicory tip had the same effect on my Dad.

Going off at a bit of a tangent, I was only four when Lonely This Christmas was a hit, so I obviously don't remember it, but it's always struck me as a bit of a piss take song.

Was it played out as a serious tune or was it all a bit tongue in cheek?

I remember seeing Les Whatsit singing to a dummy in a clip once, so I reckon they were taking the piss but it's not an overtly novelty song, is it?

Cheers.

I reckon all Christmas songs are a piss take. Can't remember anyone singing with a dummy, unless it was Eddie Large. Just for my late Dad,here's Chicory....

What was Mud's biggest hit?

It's on the tip (not a chicory one) of my tongue but I just can't remember what it was......

Another forgotten classic here.

Damian Lewis picked this on Desert Island Discs last week and it's a tune I haven't heard for donkey's.

In fact, I reckon the last time I heard this would have been standing in a field somewhere near Knutsford at about two AM, some time in the early 90's.

I really hope that video was done by someone from Bolton with a well developed sense of irony but I fear it's the work of someone like Copper Dragon........

(Although I think that Copps quite likes us, so he wouldn't be so cruel..........)

Bolton's a dump nowadays, isn't it......?

Yes and the new interchange they are going to build etc will be a hub for more people to get out of Bolton and not the other way round as the council think.

When I take the Mrs shopping, we simply jump on a train and head to Manchester as the city center is much nicer and there's tons of choice shopping and food wise!

I am taking tomorrow off so we are doing a bit of Xmas shopping there tomorrow.

The last time I was in Bolton town centre, I was walking towards where the elephants used to be across the road from Newport st and they now have a Home Bargains on the corner which seems to attract chavs drinking directly outside.
