Former Bolton and Burnley striker cautioned by police after headbutting linesman at son's match

A football match was abandoned after a linesman was assaulted - by a former professional footballer.

Ex-Bolton, Burnley and Carlisle striker George Oghani was watching his son, Theo, play in a league match in Cumbria on Saturday.

Police were called after Oghani headbutted the assistant referee 65 minutes into the crunch fixture between Kendal United and Theo's Carlisle UniSun Athletic.

Oghani, 55, was arrested and cautioned with the offence. The game at Kendal's Castle Drove was eventually called off.
