Take lots of pictures and print them (I know most people keep their snaps on a computer these days but there's still nothing like a photo album you can hold in your hands imo) and if you got a red book from the hospital fill it in. I did for both my boys and that book has everything in it from their date and time of birth to their first word, date of first step, even their first lost tooth. In all honesty now that they're adult (or nearly so in Matt's case) I look back on those early days and wonder where the time went. Anyway, all the best to you and yours and I hope the little guy (not so little at 8ib 4 I suppose) grows up healthy and happy and gives you and your Mrs thousands of magic moments and memories.
Thanks Peter. Smile

The Mrs loves photography so there is no doubt that the walls of our house will be full of pics. Very Happy

We have a red book that is a personal child's health record? although not had the chance to have a look at that yet. Smile

Anyone who tells you that it gets easier is a liar, KP. The best part is when you finally get them to sleep through the night but they still can't walk. Beyond that, its all down hill.

Congratulations, mate. Best thing ever!

Just be careful what you do with your hands when you're relaxing once you've finally finished feeding / changing and have managed to snatch 20 minutes of respite.

If you've flopped down on the settee with a brew and are watching telly, feeling thankful that you've got a minute to yourself and can finally relax, resist the subconscious urge to idly clean your nail tips with your teeth. (We've all done it.)

When changing a nappy (at least at first), that shit gets everywhere.....

That's the one and there's a lot more in it than just height/weight and health etc. I seriously encourage you to fill it in because looking back later you'll be glad you did. In mine is the records of my sons' first steps, first words and even the date of the first lost tooth. It really can be a complete gold mine as a memory aid when the little guy is older and well worth the time and trouble of keeping up to date.

Be careful, KP. Do not risk another boy so close to the first. You'll spend your life separating the fighty fellas.

I hadn't realised I could fill in the details in it. I have only seen the midwife etc filling stuff out in it when they have visited so I will definitely be having a gander at it. Smile

If you go down the sex route take precautions if you don't want another, straight after birth fertility is high. My ex was pregnant the first time after my first son.
While they get on well now they really battled for attention. Your new addition deserves a while being the sole centre of your universe.

Have five or six KP, then you can work part time, you then get most of your money of the taxman / tax payers etc etc.

It's great, I love being paid for nothing, you can really enjoy life then, my motto is ' let them work for us '.

Plus other stuff, I love it!!!!Laughing
