if we go back to a flat back 4 then we need a wide player on the left, be interesting to see if Parky persists with the back 3.

Bolton Wanderers stars reject new contract offers
HITC Sport understands Bolton Wanderers have seen a number of first team players turn down new deals.
Bolton Wanderers face losing a number of key players after several members of the squad rejected the club's initial offer of new deals, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Bolton secured promotion back to the Championship from League One this season after finishing second to Sheffield United in the table.
However, their plans next season could be thrown into disarray after failing to agree fresh terms with a number of the promotion-winning squad.
The likes of David Wheater, Gary Madine, Filip Morais and Jem Karacan are all out of contract at the Macron Stadium next month and they have turned down the club's initial offer of new deals.
Adam Le Fondre, who ended last season on loan at Bolton, is a free agent this summer after leaving Cardiff and he has so far rejected Bolton's offer of a contract to join the club on a permanent basis.
The news of the contract wrangle with several stars will come as a major concern for Trotters boss Phil Parkinson as he looks to keep hold of his best players and plan ahead for next season in the Championship.

Bradford, Bolton, Ipswich all linked with Blackburn man
Blackburn Rovers are facing a battle to keep hold of veteran central defender Gordon Greer, TEAMtalk understands.
Rovers, who have just been relegated to League One, are keen for 36-year-old Greer to sign a new deal at Ewood Park.
However, a host of clubs from the Championship, League One and Scotland are keen on landing Greer, whose contract expires next month.
Ipswich, Burton, newly-promoted Bolton and Bradford are amongst a number of clubs keen to take the experienced Scottish international – who is also wanted back north of the border.
Neil Lennon’s Hibernian are looking at him as they think he could give them a real boost back in the top-flight, whilst Hearts and his former club Kilmarnock are also interested.

If this is true, I'd say 'fuck em'.
We rescued three of them from the scrap heap, if this is the way they repay us then let them go and play in League 1 with Bury or Rochdale.

There was always a possibility that this might happen given our financial position, but rather than eff them off immediately it would be better to consider the cost of finding replacements of equal or higher quality before jumping the gun.Natasha Whittam wrote:Sluffy wrote:

Bollocks. If players want Championship level wages, they have to have a proven Championship record.

Isn't this how it usually happens. The management (and owner) sit down with the players agents and try and work out a salary for the next season.
Footballers always want more money, when I worked I went on strike for more money, however footballers act on much more of an individual basis, through their agents. I believe that the agents are out to scrape every penny they can from the football club owners and management, because then they will get a bigger cut. This is capitalism. Football has little loyalty; I saw in the metro the other day a picture of John Terry, tears in his eyes, hand on his club's badge. The story stated that he was sorry to be leaving Chelsea. My arse, he was sorry to be leaving the goldmine he had worked for several years and was probably feeling distraught at moving onto another club where the rewards will be somewhat less. I think he is a git; personally I do not think our players are gits and am confident that the majority of them will stay at an agreed rate of pay that will be worked out in the media and over the next few weeks with, lots of "grandstanding" etc (think that is the right word!) from the agents, but the players will be blamed for redfusing contracts etc, until just in the nick of time they will sign their new contracts or go somewhere else!

Didn't Karacan, one of the player asking for more, win the championship with Reading?

A few weeks ago he was a free agent so I'm amazed (if it's true) he would hold out for a better deal. He only started two games FFS!

All I was saying is that it's a fool who doesn't keep their options open and seeing as your immediate reaction was to suggest we get rid, I thought the management should explore alternatives smartish before deciding on the best option.Natasha Whittam wrote:wanderlust wrote:There was always a possibility that this might happen given our financial position, but rather than eff them off immediately it would be better to consider the cost of finding replacements of equal or higher quality before jumping the gun.

But i agree it would be a sad day for the club if the best option turned out to be caving in to their demands/first shots across the bow.

Not if we play 3 at the back, plus we always have Derik or vela, if we decide to change formations to 4-4-2.
