Many thanks to everybody who's offered serious advice, especially Bollo.

Obviously this is going to require some serious thought and planning (as I already suspected) but I still think it's an achievable ambition.

Despite what you may all think, I'm not a complete dickhead and the intention was never just to buy a boat and set sail for the Med with a crate of Budweiser and a bag of butties.

The plan is to make the move at some point in the next five or six years, so that gives me plenty of time to plan it properly and learn the skills necessary to make a success of it.

And for the first time in a long while, I'm genuinely excited by the prospect of doing something different.

As I've said previously on here, you only get one crack at this life - there's no practice run, so if you fancy taking a few calculated risks to achieve something which will give you a load of pleasure, I reckon it's worth it.

Cheers.

Fair play to you mate if you're genuinely excited about it but aren't looking at it through completely rose coloured spectacles then I wish you all the luck in the world.
If you don't take risks you can miss out on many great experiences.

I'm going to the moon, do you think it'll be expensive ?

Not straight away, got to way up the pros and cons, what do you all think?

And this is serious, no piss taking ( with monkeys on the moon and stuff ).

I'm worried though ( tbh ) that because we're out of the EU, I might have to set off from my garden?

I'd leave it for a bit as the pound has dropped to 1.12 moon dollars since Brexit,

I should just go. After all it isn't rocket science...oh, hang on.

One other thing...do you like sailing?
Serious question because I get seasick if it's a gently rolling sea. I'm absolutely fine if it's big waves but at a certain gentler pitch I get queasy and it's not uncommon.
If you know anyone with an ocean going boat I'd have a few practice runs as it's substantially different from nipping across to Calais.
