Chris Taylor cannot wait for Wanderers’ Sky Bet League One opener against Sheffield United on Saturday.

The summer signing is in line to make his Whites debut against the Blades this weekend after becoming Phil Parkinson’s first signing at Bolton earlier this summer.

And after a challenging pre-season, the wideman is excited for the season to finally get underway.

“I’m delighted to get the chance to pull on the shirt,” Taylor told bwfc.co.uk. “I knew it was a big club before I joined but I didn’t realise how big a club it actually was.

“I’ve worked hard to get as fit as I can before the first game of the season. I’ve put in the work with the staff and I’m looking forward to the first game of the season coming round.

“Pre-season games are more about the lads gaining fitness and what the manager wants us to do. We’ve built from there really.

“They’re a good group of lads. We have some very good players here and I’ve played with a few of the lads before.

“That’s helped me settle in as quickly as possible. I’m only down the road in Oldham, which isn’t too far, so it’s good for me”

Taylor continued: “It’s going to take a lot of hard work to turn a very good group of players into a very good team. It’s a slow building process at the moment, but hopefully a good one.”

“I’m looking to create goals and to score goals – as many as I can really. That’s my aim, to get balls into the box.

“I feel comfortable playing on either side. At the moment it’s about learning about the other players and they’ve got to learn about me. Right or left, it doesn’t really matter to me.

“I play a little different on either flank but it’s not a problem. The main thing is being in the starting XI and being in a successful starting XI.

“The gaffer is looking for things to take off again and to put pride back into the shirt. They want to put last year behind the club, start afresh and hopefully have a good year.”
