Wanderers’ Under-18s opened their 2016/17 season with a 2-2 draw away at Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.
Having fallen behind, the young Whites fought back to level the scores thanks to a 35-yard free-kick from Luca Navarro.
Matthew Fearnley fired Bolton ahead from the penalty spot after Harry Brockbank was brought down in the penalty area following a powerful run.
However, the Trotters were unable to hold on for all three points at the game ended in stalemate.
Speaking after the game, Nicky Spooner said, “We played very well for the first game away from home with the new first years starting and two under-16s players also making their debuts.
"We went 1-0 down, but that saw a positive response from the players scoring just before half time and straight after.
"In the second half we controlled the game better, creating chances which forced their goalkeeper into making a couple of good saves.”
