On his side’s determination to dig their heels in and earn all three points late on…
It was a hard earned win, but there’s no easy game. We had plenty of chances today to take the lead, but weren’t able to take them.
That said though, we deserved that little bit of luck and for something to go our way and luckily that happened towards the end of the game.
The lads stuck to the job in hand today and even when we missed the chances, we didn’t let our heads drop.
We kept doing the right things out on the pitch and created some fantastic chances which on another day could have seen us win three or four nil.
At some point, that will happen, but at the moment while those goals aren’t flowing, we have to make sure that we stay strong and that everybody does their job for the team to earn that little bit of fortune that we got.
On the attitude shown by his players…
I was really pleased with the way the lads conducted themselves. We have to keep believing though because we have good players here and we showed it in the final third in terms of our creation and the quality of our football.
We know ultimately though that we need to take those chances when they come along which I’m confident that we will do.
Teams around the country throughout the season will have periods like we’ve been in of late, but we’ve got to stand strong and stick together.
It was very easy to do that at the start of the season when we were winning every week and were top of the league, but times like these are a true test of everybody in the club and all those involved have worked hard to find a solution. Today meanwhile will give us all a huge boost.
On Wanderers’ defensive performance…
I thought the lads at the back were brilliant today, but the whole team were disciplined in their approach against a good football side in Swindon.
There was a strong mentality about us though and that’s what we’ve been talking to the lads about, about having that desire and ability to see games through and sticking to their jobs and roles.
I thought they did that really well today and it’ll be a big boost coming back into the training ground on Monday with the three points in the bag.
On the fans who made the trip…
They were great as usual. I think in football, the fans who come away specifically, they understand that we’ve played well in a lot of games apart from last Saturday.
We generally create a lot of gilt edged chances and I think they could see that today.
And finally, on the challenge of Oldham next weekend…
It’ll be a good test for us. The fact that we’ve got a whole week to prepare too is good – we’ll hopefully have a productive week on the training ground and then take the application and the discipline from today’s game into next week.
