Wolves have given Wanderers the green-light to extend James Henry’s loan until the end of the season.
Molineux boss Paul Lambert is waiting to hear if the Whites want to retain the services of the 27-year-old winger until the end of the season.
Henry has not started a league game for Phil Parkinson since the 1-0 win against Swindon Town on October 8 but has been used extensively as a substitute.
Wanderers chairman Ken Anderson said last week that discussions had begun to extend deals for both Henry and Newcastle United winger Sammy Ameobi, which are both due to expire at the start of next month.
But Lambert says he is still waiting for a firm indication from the Bolton camp that they want to keep hold of the former Millwall star.
“That’s with Bolton at the minute,” said the Scot.
“The ball’s in their court at the moment, they could extend it (to the end of the season), which I’m probably more likely to go that way.
“We’re waiting for Bolton to come back to us.”
Wanderers had previously indicated that aside from extending the loans of Henry and Ameobi there is unlikely to be much transfer activity at the Macron.
But it is understood Parkinson has compiled a shortlist of players - including Liverpool’s Cameron Branagan - who could be called upon at short notice.
The Manchester-born midfielder is available on loan from Anfield but plays in a similar position to Henry and Ameobi.
Henry played for the Under-23s on Monday alongside Jamie Proctor and Chris Taylor – with all three senior players impressing watching manager Parkinson in a 3-2 win against Leeds United.
Back at Lostock, the squad held a meeting to discuss last weekend’s defeat against Chesterfield.
“We have brushed off the result completely,” explained skipper Jay Spearing. “The lads all had a meeting on Monday to talk about a few things, not to point fingers, but to look over what we could improve.
“We came to the conclusion that we had chances to win the game but for whatever reason it didn’t go for us.
“It was a bad day at the office but nothing more. We’ve moved on now and put it behind us.”
