I prefer this thread as it already contains copious comments and opinions on this subject. Plus this is hardly news as it was predicted ages ago.

Unfortunately, the transparent position the Chairman has adopted has allowed constant speculation on social media as well as the local and national press. Much of this speculation has been completely unfounded and without any substance but unfortunately, despite much of the negativity aimed personally at the Chairman, it is impossible to fend off this conjecture especially when a small number of people have agendas that are not in the best interests of our football club.
However, to bring closure to this extremely unhelpful situation the Chairman has today confirmed that any ongoing discussions with investors will be terminated with immediate effect and that no further expressions of interest will be entertained for the foreseeable future.
Am I right in thinking that the reason given for calling off the negotiations and refusing to listen to any more offers is because some people (who are not involved in the negotiations) don't trust Toadface?

Is that actually a reason? Or just more smoke and mirrors?

That's like refusing to go to work because some bloke on the bus last Saturday said he didn't like my golf swing.

He must think we're all stupid.

In many respects, he's dependent on his local media profile as he never underestimates the importance of controlling the narrative.
If you look at the wording and content of his briefings, they are all carefully constructed to give him a public persona of commitment to the club and adroitness - regardless of what he's actually doing behind the scenes. That gives him a free swing in the local media at anyone who disagrees with him or is concerned about what he's doing and a platform to villify them publicly as he did with Deano, the prospective investors, the ST and the Council - all of whom ostensibly have BWFC at heart. It's ironic that he wants to be loved by the very people whose club I suspect he is taking to the cleaners which is why he doesn't like it when aspersions are cast on his smokescreen character - even though his detractors don't have the luxury of a tame media platform with which to do it.

Fair comment but be careful what you say Martin. I am very tempted to quote some of the numerous posts I made on the subject of Toadface's attitude towards new investors but it would only reignite the stream of personal abuse I got for saying what I thought. (It will be interesting to see if the same people direct similar comments towards you for saying this.)
The statement suggests that cutting off the negotiations "is in the club's interest" although I'm still trying to work out on what planet getting new money into the club is bad for business, especially in a situation where the owner isn't willing to put any of his own money in.
Expect a fabricated condemnation of the potential investors' character and motives or some other spurious justification to be published shortly - along with comments on the ACV being a barrier to getting into even more debt "new investment".
Didn't take long did it?

I can't help wondering what will happen when he eventually decides to cash out because if he's not going down the asset-stripping road he will need a buyer sooner or later and so far he seems to have pissed off potential investors both home and abroad and then slagged them off in the media. Any vestiges of a reputation he might have had left - and he was already widely hated - will surely have gone up in smoke by now, so I can't imagine who would want to deal with him when the time comes.
Perhaps he'll never sell his shares?

Perhaps we're stuck with him so I really hope he's not up to his old tricks again i.e. paying himself a fortune whilst running the business into the ground until it's liquidated and he walks away with millions.

We travel down to Fulham with much more optimism thanks to our two recent home games that have both brought about a much needed boost around the club.

It will be a tough match – I make no bones about that – but I believe that the players are more than confident enough to battle for a victory and continue our marked improvement in performances and results.

Again, this will be quickly followed up by another game on our travels against Sunderland on Tuesday evening before we face Norwich City at Macron Stadium on Saturday 4 November.

With the games once again coming thick and fast, it is imperative that the manager has plenty of options in his squad.

Without wishing to tempt fate, this is the first time this season we’ve had a virtually full-strength squad to choose from. Will Buckley has returned to the fold after being sidelined with a calf problem, and with the exception of Chris Taylor, who should be back soon, and Reece Burke, who is nursing a hip strain, we are injury free.

The fact that we were able to include some first team players in the development squad earlier in the week illustrates the versatility the manager has at his disposal which augurs well over the coming weeks.

It was great to see the hunger, passion and commitment the players displayed on Monday evening. The younger end of our squad would also have benefitted from playing alongside their more experienced and senior colleagues.

After what was a very challenging start to the Sky Bet Championship campaign, there is real feel-good factor around the place and a strong collective belief that we can look upwards. If we all stand together, who knows what we can achieve?

You may have read a statement issued by the club on Wednesday – and the media coverage that has since followed - in which we confirmed that discussions with potential investors have now ceased.

I took this decision because several of the interested parties did not have the necessary funds required to take the club to the next level. Despite numerous requests for them to provide evidence of their funding capabilities, each of them failed to provide acceptable evidence after a number of weeks.

However, they continued to request financial and other sensitive information from the club and our associated businesses.

Due to the amount of time it was taking for Paul Aldridge and our Finance Department to deal with - and the unsettling effect it was having on our staff - I decided that now was not the time to have these discussions and our focus must be firmly fixed on the team and the results.

For the record, only one of the several interested parties was able to show proof of funds and, whilst I have terminated discussions until the end of the season, this is an opportunity which may be resurrected in May. I won’t be continuing dialogue with any of the other parties.

I’ve noted that there have been some comments in relation to the regular updates I post on the club’s official website.

When I first became involved with the club, one of the immediate things supporters told me was their frustration at the lack of communication from the previous regime. This is something I wanted to address straight away as I believe in an ‘open door’ policy and the need to keep you all fully informed.

During this period, I’ve received plenty of appreciative comments from supporters who are grateful for the regular updates and I do not see any reason for this not to continue.

As we all know, the nature of football can mean that situations change almost on a daily basis. Therefore, some of the notes posted may appear out of date not long after they have been published. This is the nature of the industry, but I wouldn’t want that to prevent me from keeping an open line of communication with you all.

On Thursday evening, I was very surprised to hear the comments made by Scunthorpe United chairman Peter Swann. His opinion on this matter does not really justify a response from me other than to say it reminded me of the Aesop’s fable about the fox and the grapes!

Please continue your fantastic support of the club as we embark on these three crucial games inside seven days. Your support does make a huge difference.

Kind regards,

Ken

That we came away from Fulham on Saturday feeling somewhat dejected after drawing the game illustrates how much our form has improved over the last few games.

Of course, prior to a ball being kicked, we would have been satisfied with getting a point at such a tough venue.

As we all know Craven Cottage hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for the club over the past 25 years, but we came very close to getting that elusive win there yesterday.

I will never know where the officials got six minutes of additional time from and to concede right at the death was a bitter blow.

The result felt like a defeat rather than a draw given how we battled so hard throughout the game to take the lead and hold onto it for as long as we did.

It was a performance that engendered pride and it’s been a long while since we have seen such a resilient defensive display. It was just a great shame as the players gave it their all.

Our travelling support was once again magnificent and I thank you all for travelling in numbers such a long distance. You are a credit to the club.

What the performance told us was that we are now becoming difficult to beat. Fulham are a good side and they knew they had been in a battle just to salvage the draw.

I echo the manager’s comments in that we needed the second goal to kill off the game and we had the better chances but unfortunately it didn’t quite happen. In very competitive games like these there is always the chance of conceding a late goal and as other teams have also found out Fulham are the late goal specialists.

We are improving week on week and this level of consistency is what is required to climb out of the bottom three.

We need more of the same on Tuesday night when we travel up to Sunderland, which again will be another tough encounter as they will be battling for a result after losing at home on Saturday.

Whilst we are disappointed at coming so close to our first away win this season it’s a good thing that games are coming thick and fast and the players, who understandably were down after the game, won’t have time to dwell on what might have been and will move on and try and get a result at Sunderland on Tuesday night.

Norwich will then be the visitors on Saturday to cap a very busy week of three tough fixtures - and we need more of the same effort and commitment which in turn will breed confidence.

I hope to see as many of you as possible at Macron Stadium where we can hopefully keep up this momentum.

Kind regards,

Ken

Following on from a difficult September, the month of October was certainly a more fruitful one for all of us here at Bolton Wanderers with the team managing to remain unbeaten throughout their four league fixtures.

In those games, we came up against opponents of very high quality, something that is commonplace in the Sky Bet Championship nowadays, and the players have undoubtedly risen to the challenge after a testing start to the campaign.

Our resurgence is well and truly underway however and although we have been left disappointed not to have taken maximum points from our last three games having found ourselves in winning positions, the progression from the team is clear to see and their confidence is visibly growing with each passing match.

Last time out at Macron Stadium, we were all left disheartened at the final whistle against Queens Park Rangers that we hadn’t been able to make it back-to-back victories following on from our win over Sheffield Wednesday the week previous.

That simply shows however how our fortunes have turned around and the players certainly didn’t let that affect them as they made the trip down to the capital to face Fulham last weekend.

I am sure everybody associated with the club, whether they were at Craven Cottage or not, can say that the players gave absolutely everything in that particular game to defend their lead and in the end, it took a very, very late equaliser to deny the team victory – one which nobody would have begrudged them had we gotten it either.

Moving onto Tuesday meanwhile and it was another long journey for everybody up to Sunderland for a game which certainly lived up to being labelled as a Halloween thriller following the final whistle.

Sunderland themselves have struggled to adapt to life back in the Sky Bet Championship following their relegation, but have talent in abundance in their ranks and that was clear to see throughout the game. It was a shame to see Simon Grayson lose his job shortly afterwards, but he is a very good manager and I am sure he will return to the game in another position very soon.

Although come the final whistle the spoils had been shared, it was another match where we could take positives from the game as a whole, particularly in regards to how lethal we looked as a unit when attacking.

Sammy Ameobi has also proven his importance in recent weeks with three vital goals, while Josh Vela’s inclusion in the past few matchday line-ups has been wholly welcomed with his ability and impact clear to see, particularly from an attacking perspective where his creativity has been prominent.

As I have already mentioned in previous notes also, Karl Henry has continued to be a crucial figure for us and he only reiterated that with his first goal for the club on Tuesday evening.

Looking towards this weekend’s game meanwhile, it is imperative that we continue our unbeaten run of late with our next league game not being for 13 days due to the upcoming international break.

It is absolutely crucial that we make our upsurge in form count in front of our home fans who have shown incredible patience and loyalty following our challenging start.

Norwich are certainly formidable opponents with them sitting just outside of the play-off positions at present, but as l have previously stated, consistency brings success and this is something we are beginning to achieve and must continue to focus on.

We also need to be able to close games out when we go in front as we have done in our last three matches - something that we were very good at last season - and we need to replicate that this season to ensure we take maximum points from our games and climb the league.

I have every faith in the manager and his players however that this will happen as our confidence grows week-on-week.

Away from the field, we will be announcing details over the coming weeks regarding a Festive Bundle ticket deal in December, and half season tickets for the final 11 home games of the campaign.

I encourage you all to take advantage of these cost effective deals to commit your support for the team over a crucial period and continue to be the twelfth man that you have been both here at Macron Stadium and on our travels so far this term.

If we get a victory this weekend and other results go our way, we will move off the bottom of the table and be ever closer to getting out of the drop zone altogether.

Please get down to Macron Stadium and bring your friends and family with you so we can all get behind the players and spur them on to get the three points.

As usual, let’s be loud, let’s be proud and let’s get behind the team.

Kind regards,

Ken

The win on Saturday against Norwich City epitomised quality and passion and it was imperative that we continued our recent upturn in form before going into the international break.
Norwich are a good team and were on a decent run away from home so we knew it would be tough to get the three points.
But we showed the attributes from our previous four games and despite soaking up some early anticipated pressure, we were clinical in front of goal and never looked back after we had scored both goals.
Again, you the fans played your part with your fantastic support and, as I keep saying, this helps lift and drive our players on and puts pressure on the opposition.
After a very challenging start we are now unbeaten in five games and off the bottom of the table. I don’t want to dwell too much on the terrible fortune we’ve had on the injury front, but I always thought that when our key players returned and Phil had a fully fit squad to choose from, our results would start to improve.
The manager now has more options at his disposal with a greater number of players banging on the door for a place in the first team and it’s vital that they all remain fit and sharp for when their opportunity comes. I believe that our unbeaten run is not a coincidence and is testimony to the strength in depth we now have available.
Hopefully we will now have a prolonged spell with a fully fit squad, which is a luxury we have not had the benefit of since l have been at the club.
It was good to see Adam Armstrong on the scoresheet at the weekend and we all knew it was only a matter of time before he got that all important goal. I am sure he will kick on now as Gary Madine has also done. Their hard work and efforts have been clear to see but they have had to work even harder to ensure they get their just rewards.
We go into this international break in a far better position than the last one and now it will give everyone the opportunity to recharge their batteries in readiness for the difficult and congested fixture programme between now and the New Year.
As I have mentioned, the support has been unwavering all season and has played a role in helping us find form. By increasing our attendances over the course of the season the additional support will only help the team to move up the league.
To this end, the Club has today announced a Festive Bundle ticket promotion for the home games in December where you can watch all three games for one set price and make a maximum saving of up to £27. Please click here for more information.
Next week, we shall also be announcing details for half season tickets, which will allow supporters to watch the final 11 home games for a cost effective price. Details will be released on all the club’s channels very soon.
As l have said on a number of occasions l have every confidence in this group of players, but our recruitment team have to be out there actively scouting players to improve and grow the squad size to help us cope better when injuries and suspensions unfortunately kick in.
We cannot afford to stand still and our immediate ambition is to secure our place in the Sky Bet Championship this season and stabilise the club, and hopefully we will be challenging for those promotion places in the not too distant future.
The quality of this league has improved substantially since we were last here two seasons ago and we have to raise our levels of fitness and stamina as there is no question that to play in the Championship requires much higher physical and athletic qualities than in the past.
Concentration levels also need to remain high throughout the game but especially in the final 15 minutes when fatigue creeps in and mistakes sometimes happen. Due to the quality of the players in this league you cannot afford to switch off or you will be punished.
But, as I have always said, consistency breeds confidence which in turn brings results.
I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible cheering on the lads at Preston North End when we return to action and then back at Macron Stadium a few days later for our home game against Reading.
Kind regards,
Ken

I am sure I speak for everybody when I say that, after our upturn in fortunes in recent weeks, this international weekend has been somewhat unwelcomed.
We have seen just what momentum can do for the team and following on from our victory over Norwich City last Saturday, I think everybody would agree when I say that we would all have loved nothing more than a game on Tuesday to capitalise and push on as we bid to climb up the league standings.

As it is however, we have to wait until this coming Friday for our trip to Preston North End, but I am sure that it will be worth the wait and it has been great to see our supporters getting behind the team in their numbers as usual with over 2,500 tickets sold so far.

Off the pitch, we are aware of the situation which has been reported in the media this morning regarding Gary Madine and although we believe that no further action is being taken by the authorities, we will be looking at the matter through our own processes.

I am sure many of you will also be aware of the verdict offered by Bolton Council in relation to the Asset of Community Value (ACV) order which was instigated by the Bolton Wanderers Supporters’ Trust.

This decision now means that the car parks, office space and Bolton Whites Hotel are not included in the order, which is pleasing from the perspective of the football club.

The rest of the stadium though has been deemed as an asset of community value which is disappointing although not entirely unexpected.

Again however, we have accepted the council’s decision and will be making no further comment in relation to this matter.

The only thing that we as a collective are focusing on right now is getting back to league action at Deepdale on Friday evening in front of the Sky Sports television cameras.

The players returned to training this morning following a brief break which will have given them all the opportunity to recharge their batteries ahead of a hard week of work up at Lostock as we bid to continue our unbeaten run.

If we were to pick up maximum points on Friday, we could find ourselves out of the bottom three – albeit perhaps only until Saturday’s fixtures – but it is something that everybody is aiming for and should we achieve it, it would be a huge confidence boost as we head towards the busy festive period.

Tickets for our next home game against Reading a week on Tuesday meanwhile are selling well also, with prices around Macron Stadium for this fixture being a flat rate of £15 for adults and £7 for concessions.
We have also got our special Festive Bundle for our games against Barnsley, Burton Albion and Cardiff City (details of which can be FOUND HERE) and of course, our half season tickets which will be going on sale from tomorrow.
Please encourage everybody that you know to take advantage of these fantastic prices and come down to cheer the team on as we look to continue our superb form on home soil of late.

To purchase tickets, please visit Bolton Central in person, call 0844 871 2932 or visit our online portal at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

You can also buy tickets directly from our retail outlet and over the phone for the club’s upcoming annual Christmas Carol Service on December 4, an evening which, as usual, promises to be an event to remember and the perfect way to get everybody into the Christmas spirit.

As usual however, let's be proud, let's be loud and let's get right behind the team and the football club as a whole as you have done superbly so far this season.

Kind regards,

Ken

Tuesday evening’s game against Reading was certainly one of conflicting emotions for all involved with Bolton Wanderers.
To go from the high of being two goals ahead to the disappointment of being pegged back at two apiece, before then coming agonisingly close to snatching all three points at the death only to be forced to settle for a solitary point – it was a true rollercoaster of emotions.
As the manager Phil Parkinson said in his post-match interview, there were plenty of positives to take from the game, but overall the general feeling come the final whistle was unfortunately one of frustration that we hadn’t managed to take all three points.
That said, there is still a lot of football to be played and as I have mentioned previously, our upcoming fixtures in December against a number of teams who are in a ‘mini-league’ with us in the form of Barnsley and Burton Albion will undoubtedly be dubbed as six-pointers.
It is imperative that everybody does not dwell on Tuesday’s result – in hindsight, we are a point better off than we were at the start of the game and the players must build on that as we head towards the crucial Christmas period.
For those of you inside Macron Stadium last night, although you will have left feeling ultimately disappointed, I am sure that having woken up this morning and in the cold light of day, you will be able to reflect on the positives from the match – one being your superb support.
We had hoped that more fans would have taken advantage of our reduced prices for the clash, especially with the weather being somewhat mild for this time of year which I know can sometimes play its part for those with young families, and so the attendance was a little disheartening.
It’s absolutely necessary to increase numbers to help in our quest to retain Championship football, as every penny brought in through the gates will help us to strengthen our squad.
Last night’s attendance was the lowest this season, so it proves that lowering the price is not the answer.
When l talk with supporters generally and see comments on social media, everyone is quite rightly positive about retaining our status in the Sky Bet Championship and bringing in new players in January, but we really need for them to come along and support us if we are to have a chance of achieving this.
It is somewhat concerning that we have crowds of some 10,000 less in the Championship than what we had towards the end of last season in League One.
We now move on, however, and look towards our next league encounter with Wolves on Saturday – a game which will be a tough test for the team given Wolves’ form so far this season.
I have every faith, as I am sure you all do, that if the players perform to the best of their ability, then there is no reason at all why we cannot get a result at Molineux.
Elsewhere, I thoroughly enjoyed the Q&A session which was held in Reflections prior to the game on Tuesday evening and I would like to thank the supporters who were in attendance.
I have always stressed that I am determined to be as open and transparent as possible with you, our fantastic supporters – ultimately, you are the heartbeat of this football club and I want you to feel that you have a say in matters at BWFC.
I hope that those of you in attendance found the event beneficial and that I was able to answer some questions that you may have had prior to it.
I will also be visiting the hospitality suites prior to our upcoming home game against Barnsley on Saturday 2 December where I will be happy to answer your questions.
To book your places for our award-winning hospitality, please [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], call our Corporate Sales team on 01204 673 761 or email [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].
Your support of the football club across the board is hugely important and is very much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Ken
