I'm 46 - let's get that out there right from the off to provide some context for what I'm about to say.

I'm not on Facebook, I never did Myspace, Instagram might as well be a blood pressure medication for all I know about it, I have no interest in Pinterest and The Cloud is something that rains on me when I take the dog out...

I'm not down with the Social Media is my point.

But I do go on Twitter every once in a while.

Initially it was principally to debunk Boggers' frequent and troublesome attempts to appear "ITK".

I took "ITK" to mean "I've read on Twitter".

(Alan Nixon once called me a "fud" (whatever that means) but didn't block me because I then made him piss himself with my response to his comment and we became sort of cyber-friends.)

Anyroad.......

I keep getting emails from Twitter telling me that someone has either liked or replied to one of my tweets.

And it's important at this point to say that I never randomly tweet my thoughts, rather I generally only respond to comments from others.

So I read my email and think "Great! I've added to the discussion in my small way and someone likes what I've said. Fab! Let's see what they've said and how it fits with the general discussion."

But more often than not, when I click on the link, all I get is my comment and their reply.

No context, no transcription of the full discussion....nowt.

Am I doing something wrong?

Or is that how it works?

That orange-faced idiot in America appears to have mastered Twitter but I'm struggling.

I know he's "like a smart person" and his (self-proclaimed) IQ is 156 (Google it) but I'm pretty sure that even though I'm not as clever as him, I should be able to grasp the rudiments of it.

And that bothers me.....bigly....in a yuge way, folks.

i did try twitter once and lasted about 5 minutes before i deleted my account. I didn't know what to do and then some random bloke wanted to follow me. I'll stick to Facebook

I don't do twitter. I don't like being followed by strange men either.

I'll leave that to KP.

Twitter does have its uses.

This very afternoon, for example, the knob commentating on Tower said that Danny Guthrie had scored for Colchester.

Which I thought was odd, given that he doesn't play for them.

So I tweeted Tower FM and advised them that their man was a dick because the guy who scored for Colchester is actually a 23 year old black man called Kurtis Guthrie.

And within 10 minutes the knob on comms had to own up to his error live on air after what he described as "a reaction to his comment on Twitter".

And I felt duly smug and righteous.

I have a heartwarming yet gently humourous anecdote about Kurtis Guthrie...

Seriously, do you read your posts back?

Can't you see what you're becoming?

Who the fuck contacts a radio station about an error?

Mrs B needs to sort you out.

Have I ever let you down anecdote wise, Boncey?

Me.

And I finally felt powerful for once.

You can expect to see me destroying New York soon, smashing up Thor and Iron Man and laughing in SHIELD's face.

Kneel before me, minion!

Hwar hwar hwaaaar!!!!

Yesterdays twitter revelations were that Lily Allen has only ever been sexually assaulted by white males and a 19 year old nobody footballer said something nasty about Harry Arter's dead child.

All brought to us by independent 'NEWS' agencies (and the gobshites who use twitter).

A great social tool if you're thick, continuously want to be offended and have the vocabulary of a chimp.

Out of an absolute cesspit of the most despicable things football fans use as ammo I think this is the worst I've heard.
The guy is as low as you can go and I hope no other club touches the pondlife with a bargepole.
Good riddance to football you low life scum.

I am a fan of Twitter. It gives me the gist of things (140 characters or less) I am interested in and I only follow topics and people that interest me. In addition, I get to share my inestimable wisdom to random strangers, who in turn 'like' and 'retweet' to even more random strangers - so at some point in the future, the worldwide IQ will increase, thanks to me.
