Two great fights on the same bill in Vegas at the weekend, the rematch of Frampton against Santa Cruz (Frampton stepped up in weight to give three weight world champion Santa Cruz his first ever defeat and Selby (The Welsh Mayweather) on the undercard in an attempt to get better exposure in the USA v an a tough Argentinian who has a 41-4 record but never held a world title.
Taking Selby first, the idea is for Selby to fight the winner of the Frampton fight and unify the world championship at the weight - so he can't afford to blow his big chance by losing to Barros.
Barros record shows that he is no mug but he hasn't in his career fought anyone of note and at the age of 30 you would have thought there was a reason for that - he's either good and they are avoiding him or he's not good enough to make a match and draw a crowd in.
I think it is probably the latter so Selby should win.
Frampton I think is a wonderful boxer - he won The Ring magazines Fighter of the Year award for his victory over Santa Cruz and Bury's Scott Quigg - - both top fighters.
It's going to be a tough bout to call though I think with Santa Cruz knowing this time fully what he is up against, plus being a Mexican (and boxing in Vegas) having a lot of supporters there on the night (their previous bout being in New York).
Santa Cruz is well regarded in America but I think Frampton is as good as fighter pound for pound as anyone at the moment so my money would be on him to win.
Hope I'm right on both fighters.
The British are coming!
