Anxiety dogged our Doombar deliberations before the match in the Harvester.

Disappointing performances and results in 2017, culminating in Tuesday night’s miserable match, have set the alarm bells ringing amongst the Macron faithful.

Phil Parkinson is struggling to find a winning formula following the loss of players through injury, illness, suspensions, transfer and non-renewal of loans.

I cannot remember the last time he could name an unchanged team and Saturday was no exception with Jay Spearing sidelined for the foreseeable future.

Every week seems to bring a new problem nowadays.

The Wanderers started brightly against the pyjama-clad Wombles and deservedly took the lead through a superb header from Gary Madine after 17 minutes.

We looked comfortable and were playing better than on Tuesday night. However, Wimbledon battled back into the match and their man mountain Tom Elliott squeezed a header in at the near post.

The second half was tight but we did have several chances to score and it was the failure to take these chances that cost us two points.

Our management and squad are being tested like never before this season. Replacements were brought in during January and hopefully there’s another one in Jem Caracan this week.

We badly need them to come good. We are looking for heroes, particularly in the goalscoring department, to build on the good work done in the first half of the season and get us over the promotion line. We have to go with what we have got.

In the prevailing financial situation, everyone at the club has worked wonders to get us in a challenging position. Let’s not let this go. We need everyone together, on and off the field. There are signs that things are beginning to turn off the field with success in the development and sponsorship areas and our owners heading for a truce.

But it’s no good abusing fringe players before they even step foot on the pitch. We need them to come in and play well. We shouldn’t be doing the opposition’s job for them.

Parkinson has got his work cut out. The team needs us as the 12th man. If we want promotion, then we all must play our parts.

All the top clubs, apart from Fleetwood are having problems with consistency. We’ve got 12 cup matches left and it’s time we went on a good cup run, starting with the Cod Army next week.

Another fan who seems to think it's the supporters job to get the players going.
