Wanderers want points, not prizes… at least for another three weeks.
That’s Phil Parkinson’s verdict as he accepted a third manager-of-the-month award and watched winger Filipe Morais pick up the players’ accolade.
After last season’s misery, the Whites have nearly finished a complete turnaround in fortune, needing three wins from their final five games to guarantee promotion.
Parkinson has taken the praise which has come his way with good grace but still feels there is work to do.
“I’m really pleased for Fil, even though I think Mark Beevers must have pushed him close after scoring five goals on the trot away from home,” he said of Morais’ award, given for 10 assists and two goals in March.
“From my part, I’m glad to get a manager-of-the-month award but it’s been a massive team effort. Now it’s a case of making sure we get the April one.
“It’s good for the club to get recognised. We got a bit of publicity from the performance of the week against Fleetwood not long ago but we’ve managed to keep our feet on the ground. The most important prize is still there for us to take if we can keep these standards high.”
