can you swim?

i had a scary experience today, i managed to fall in the pool at the local spa. and i can't swim!

had to be rescured by a middle aged man who was blind in one eye. the shame!

i start lessons on saturday. if you can't already swim you need to start to learn immediately.

I can swim like a fish, but I only got serious about it after almost drowning at Waves in Blackburn when I was a kid.

i can swim ok, but i'm not very good at it. would be nice to get better at it but i think it's pretty boring. but, boring or not, it saves lives. so i should practice more.

I'm an excellent swimmer. I can't understand how any adult can't swim. It's easy.

it's going to be embarrassing wearing armbands at 24.

I was nicknamed "the whale" at school, I am a brilliant swimmer.

It's easy. Just don't start panicking in the water and you won't sink. The human body floats if you just lie there. Then kick your feet and you're swimming.

Stop bullying the girl Hipster. Like someone's going to come on a forum and say they can't swim at 24 "just for a laugh".

I taught myself how to swim. I can now swim a mile or so of breaststroke, albeit pretty slowly. 64 lengths of the local pool but it takes me over 50 minutes.

I can swim. Living on a small island in the Caribbean Sea - it makes sense, I think.

I was a lifeguard at the Aquatics centre around the time of the 2002 manchester games. I think at 24 it will be difficult to get going but once you have got it, its like riding a bike and because its new you will probably be hooked and go everyday!

I saw something on telly a while back about Jamaica. Quite a few Jamaicans on it couldn't swim despite living near to the sea. They said most beaches charged people to use them and locals couldn't afford it. Any truth in that?

I read somewhere that black people have greater bone density making it harder for them to swim, so it puts them off, dont know if its a myth or not.

I learned when I was 18 - was embarrasing before when friends would go swimming and I didn't.
