Ref watch: Stephen Martin to oversee Norwich City clash

Stephen Martin will run the rule over Wanderers' Sky Bet Championship clash with Norwich City at Macron Stadium on Saturday.

Officiating his first Football League fixture in February 2011, the Staffordshire-based official established himself as a League One and League Two regular in the 2012/13 season while he also oversaw his first Championship fixture during the same campaign.

Taking charge of his first Wanderers outing the following season when the Whites took on Tranmere Rovers, he has manned four Whites fixtures to date including Bolton's home defeat to Derby County earlier in the season.

Mr Martin has run the rule over 15 games so far this season, dishing out 24 yellow cards and two red cards.

Matthew McGrath and Jonathan Hunt will run the line while Scott Duncan is the fourth official.

The local Norfolk media are - as usual - running stories on every aspect of the Canaries' situation but the theme that seems to be getting most traction is that "Bolton are confident despite being bottom of the league" which tends to veer towards "Bolton are cocky" in the body text.

The other theme is that if they win they will set a club record of six consecutive away wins having already beaten Sheffield United, Middlesborough, Reading, Ipswich and Brentford (Cup match) in their last 5 away games.

Preview: Five talking points ahead of Bolton Wanderers v Norwich City

1. Unbeaten run

Wanderers head into Saturday's game unbeaten from their last four outings after picking up maximum points against Sheffield Wednesday before seeing late goals deny them victories against Queens Park Rangers, Fulham and Sunderland.

The Whites will be eager to record a positive result against Norwich City as they look to extend their unbeaten run heading into the November international break.

And with Phil Parkinson's men slowly narrowly the gap between themselves and the teams outside the Sky Bet Championship relegation zone, a victory for Bolton could see them at least climb off the bottom of the Sky Bet Championship table if other results go their way.

2. Last game before the international break

Time passes quickly in football. Look back to before the October international break and the Trotters were still searching for their first win of the season, finding goals and points hard to come by.

Now heading into the November international break off the back of an unbeaten month and boosted by the returns of a number of players from inury, Wanderers cannot wait to get back on the pitch as they look to climb the second tier table.

With morale high courtesy of recent results and performances despite their current league position, the Whites will be keen to carry on where they left ahead of a two-week break from league action.

3. Back at Macron Stadium

After two tough games on the road, Bolton return to Macron Stadium this weekend.

Following a 3-3 away draw against Sunderland in midweek and a 1-1 draw at Fulham last weekend, the Trotters will be keen to put on a strong display infront of their home fans as they return home for the first time in two weeks.

Last time out at the Macron, Wanderers fought out a 1-1 draw Queens Park Rangers as skipper Darren Pratley scored the only goal for the home side before Idrissa Sylla equalised late on for the R’s.

Now hoping to go one better against the Canaries, the Whites will be hungry to make home advantage count in their efforts to maintain their current momentum.

4. Remembrance Day fixture and signing session

Bolton Wanderers Football Club would like to encourage all supporters attending Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship match ato please take their seats for 2.50pm in order for everyone to be able to take part in the Act Of Remembrance which will take place just before kick-off.

The players shall be wearing poppies on their shirts and cadets will also be selling poppies ahead of the game.

The Club will also have military representatives as guests for the match from the 4th Battalion of Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment and the 216 Battery Bolton Royal Artillery along with family members who have lost loved ones in recent conflicts.

The Club’s Chaplain Phil Mason will lead the Act of Remembrance and our military personnel guests will be invited back on to the pitch at half-time to draw the Golden Gamble.

Earlier in the day, at 2pm, in the UK Healthcare Suite, a wall within the suite that has images and photographs of the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment and other serving military personnel will be dedicated to be a lasting memorial to all those who have served and sacrificed in times of conflict.

If anyone would like to attend the short ceremony they are welcome. Please make your way to the UK Healthcare Suite which is located in the North Stand.

Elsewhere, Filipe Morais will be meeting and greeting supporters in Bolton Central from 1.30pm .

The Bolton No.22, who made the switch to the club earlier this year before agreeing a new deal in the summer, will be in attendance at the club's retail outlet ahead of this weekend's Sky Bet Championship clash with the Canaries.

Fans are encouraged to arrive in plenty of time if they are wishing to meet Morais who will be on hand to sign memorabilia and pose for photos.

5. Sammy Ameobi

After scoring three goals in his last four games, Sammy Ameobi was named in WhoScored.com’s October Team of the Month for the Championship.

Having fired home against Sheffield Wednesday, Fulham and Sunderland, the popular forward will be looking to add to his tally this weekend. If he were to score again, he would be outright top goal scorer at the club.
