Concerns that Mark Beevers could be out of action for a number of weeks have been allayed at Wanderers.

It was feared the centre-half had been struck down with appendicitis, which forced him out of Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town.

Tests have now confirmed Beevers was only suffering from a virus and so should be clear to resume training once sufficiently recovered.

The former Sheffield Wednesday man had missed just one league game for the Whites all season - against Reading in November - but could now be available for the Whites’ next home game on February 2.

“He had blood tests,” Phil Parkinson explained at the weekend. “Beevs came in on Friday and was very ill and we’d hoped he would be better by Saturday but that wasn’t the case and we had to change out plans.

“Obviously we have a little break now before the next game against Bristol City so there will be time for the situation to resolve itself.

“In the event, Dorian Dervite was absolutely terrific as his replacement, I can’t praise him highly enough for his performance against Ipswich.”

Wanderers are reminding season ticket holders they can bring a friend or family member to the Bristol City match on Friday night for £10.
