I've not been around much in the last week or so and the defeatists and mentalists seem to be dominating most of the threads at the moment but are things really as bad as they think?
Yes of course we are no longer in control of our destiny going into the last game but the key fixtures have fallen kindly for us and the right results in all of them are in all honesty a more likely outcome than not.
Obviously we have to win but we are at home and play Forest who have nothing to play for and hopefully in spirit if not body, are already on the beech.
We have to go for the win - and in all honesty we should be able to get it too!
If we do, nay, when we do, we will have two more points than either Barnsley or Burton - meaning they would have to win their games to keep ahead of us - and thus stand their best chance of avoiding relegation.
The teams they play are (Barnsley at) Derby and (Burton at) Preston.
The thing that makes it interesting though is that Derby currently sit the last play-off place on 72 points and Preston are the team immediately below them on 70 points.
In reality the last play-off spot can only be filled by one of these teams.
Preston HAVE to win to stand any chance and Derby HAVE to avoid defeat.
So it is certainly not unreasonable for Derby to take at least a point from Barnsley, and for Preston to go all out for the win against Burton.
If Bolton win - and they should do - and Barnsley and Burton each don't win away at two sides going for the last remaining play-off place - then we will have avoided relegation.
Yes, I know, not everything goes to plan but if you were impartial to the goings on, I think most people would back us to win against Forest and for Barnsley and Burton not to take full points at Derby and Preston respectively.
The big fat lady as certainly not sung just yet!
Keep positive lads, we can still do this.
