IPSWICH Town boss Paul Hurst has warned Wanderers he could yet choose to keep striker target Joe Garner at Portman Road.
A six-figure bid has been lodged by Bolton for the 30-year-old former Preston North End man in the hope he can sign before this Thursday’s permanent transfer deadline.
Hurst is also looking to sign at least one more striker after resigning himself to losing last season’s top scorer Martyn Waghorn and has lodged bids for Blackpool’s Curtis Tilt, Accrington Stanley’s Kayden Jackson and Cardiff City’s Omar Bogle.
Garner sat out Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers with a minor knee problem but speaking after the game Hurst said his much-anticipated exit was not yet guaranteed.
“We’ll look at that situation,” he told the Ipswich Star. “As always, if we feel it’s the right thing to then we’ll look at it. If we don’t then Joe will stay with us.”
To further complicate matters for Wanderers, it is understood Millwall and Sheffield United have both enquired about Garner in the last week.
Phil Parkinson confirmed he was interested in bringing the former Rangers man to The University of Bolton Stadium on Friday but admits he has had to explore other options too.
“He’s a player I’ve admired since his time at Preston, he’s one of a number of players we’re looking at,” he said.
