Shut up you fool. You always get like this when somebody you don't know dies.

I do believe he went to the moon, but a lot of people don't.

If you're going to post stupid threads then I'm going to take the piss. Everytime someones dies you're falling over yourself to post a thread about it.

Neil Armstrong was getting on, it's no surprise he's died. He will be remembered more than most and enjoyed a very good life. But what relevance it has on here I don't know - it's not as if you've been the resident Patrick Moore these last few months.

There are many that believe he walked on the moon and there are many that believe conspiracy theories about film sets in the Nevada desert! Either way he will be remembered - RIP

This is the same US TV Network that said that West Yorkshire is a large city in England (whilst giving a short overview for the Olympics)!!! It's no wonder the Yanks are thick when even their news cannot even get things right even about their own people!

Neil Armstrong deserves a thread more than that eccentric old fossil off Bargain Hunt.

I remember watching the moon landing on the telly as a youth. I thought they were a bit on the boring side tbh but I remember my parents being wowed by it all.

I remember cutting out newspaper reports about it and collecting them in a scrapbook, which must have got chucked out many years ago unfortunately.

I remember James Burke presenting the BBC moon landing programmes, which we could only watch in black and white back then.

A marvellous achievement really, it happened in the days of pounds, shillings and pence, that's how long back it was.

Hipster I do believe the picture you show in your opening post is actually of Buzz Aldrin and not Armstrong - but it is an easy mistake to make.

I think you may like this though - a two hour programme made about the moon landing by the BBC with actual footage at the time - enjoy it I think you will.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/archive/moonlandings/7620.shtml

Finally a bit of trivia - the first words spoken from the moon to the earth were NOT "the eagle as landed" but "Houston, Tranquility base here" then the famous words "the eagle as landed"!

RIP Neil.
