Jason Lowe reckons Wanderers cannot afford to dwell on defeat against Stoke if they are to emerge victorious in Saturday’s derby clash with Blackburn Rovers.

The midfielder is looking to brush off Tuesday night’s result in the Potteries and focus on a game which is sure to have more personal significance for him than most.

Lowe spent eight years as a pro at Ewood Park and knows the squad cannot afford to carry any negativity into the first meeting between the two local rivals in three years.

“It’s a really important game, I know that,” he told The Bolton News.

“We’ve got to dust ourselves off and go again and make sure we are ready for Saturday.

“We’re disappointed to have conceded from a set- play (at Stoke) – we’ve prided ourselves on being good in those areas.

“We were chasing the game after that, trying to get back into it, but couldn’t quite get that spark we needed.

“It was really disappointing to see our goal disallowed because at that stage it gets us right back in it, our tails are up and they were on the back foot.

“We could have gone on and come away with at least a point if it had stood.

“It was not to be – but hopefully those decisions even themselves out over the course of the season.

“We’ll move on now and make sure we get it right against Blackburn.”

Lowe became Wanderers’ fourth different captain of the campaign at Stoke, following David Wheater, Ben Alnwick and Josh Vela in the role, an honour he was quick to play down.

“There are a few out injured and great captains all around the dressing room at this place,” he said. “It’s a nice thing – but it was just a case of it being my turn.”

Meanwhile, the Bolton Wanderers Supporters’ Association will hold their social meeting with Ben Alnwick and Erhun Oztumer in attendance tonight at Bolton Arena, from 7.30pm. Admission is free.

Why does every cunting footballer repeatedly say “we go again” week after week. Pisses me right off
