Ipad Screen Protector

My current Ipad is over 6 years old, so I'm having a new one for my 70th birthday ( shit!!!  times running out).

I have a screen protector on my old one , but I hate fitting them, always end up with a few small bubbles.

Do I really need one as I will keep it in a good case?

Do you use a screen protector?

If so which make do you use?

Is it plastic or one of the new glass ones?

I use a tempered glass one on my phone and they are a lot easier to fit than the plastic ones. 

The one I got said it was explosion proof, not had the opportunity to try that boast out but if I do then the last thing I will be worrying about is my phone.

I never use them.  Or cases. Period.
