Phil Parkinson insists both he and Wanderers are doing everything in their power to emerge from their current slump.

Defeat against Swansea City has left Bolton second bottom of the Championship with just one win in their last 13 games.

Pressure on Parkinson has built steadily of late, and despite a statement from club owner and chairman Ken Anderson issued last weekend claiming the manager had his full backing, the club’s precarious situation leaves the manager vulnerable heading into the international break.

Speaking after Barry McKay’s fine strike had condemned his side to defeat, Parkinson played a straight bat to questions on his future – but added that every effort was being made to turn round Wanderers’ fortunes.

“I’m not going to talk about myself today, if you don’t mind,” he said. “It has been a recurring question and I respect that it has to be asked but I just want to credit the lads for their effort, because it has not been easy.

“We are all low because we can’t get a result. The supporters were brilliant, they stuck right behind us and I thank them for that because it’s very, very difficult when you’ve watched your team getting beat, albeit against one who came down from the Premiership.

“We are giving everything we can. That’s all I can say. And people can see that.

“Some of the approach play, again, has been excellent. Systems, style of play, we can all analyse everything and we always will, but it all boils down to sticking the ball into the back of the net and that has been the story of the day.”

He praises the players after every defeat. Where is the incentive to play well?

Parky needs to register for my seminar in December called "How To Manage Lazy Useless Bastards".

It's called pay to play... as you said, incentives.  I am also agreeing that he needs to stick with a starting eleven, barring injuries.

Pay to play? Wonder how many players we’d attract with that offer.

Thousands.

I'd definitely pay a tenner to play against Millwall.

I've still got my boots. I've been practising with my 1970's ball. Last night I had a dream about Will Buckley.
