Derik Osede says his time with Bolton Wanderers has made his a better player.

After three years in England, the former Real Madrid youngster sealed a return to Spain this week, signing an 18-month deal with Numancia in the Second Division.

Derik struggled to hold down a regular spot under Neil Lennon or Phil Parkinson at Bolton – but made 71 appearances in all, filling a range of positions in defence and midfield.

The 25-year-old feels he returns to Spanish football with more to offer his new club, who currently sit 14th in the table.

"I've matured, I've learned things, I've become a man, and the experience there will be very good for me here,” he said.

"I finished the season with Bolton in May and since that time I have been training on my own, I have tried to get the best possible move, the best possible coaching staff and a club I could help.

“I come back with a lot of humility.

"I want to contribute to the team every day, work hard, and try to win the Second Division this year.

"It is a strong league, perhaps as strong as it ever has been, and that is good because it makes it competitive. If football is competitive it makes you demand more and perform better."
