For those of you who may have seen some cycling on the TV over the last 25 years or so, it is most likely that the commentary was provided by Phil Liggert as the anchor with former rider Paul Sherwen as the expert summariser.
In a sense the pair have been the 'voice' of cycling for more than a generation.
Things have moved on in the last couple of years for British cycling tv commentary but Liggert and Sherwen were still in high demand elsewhere in the world.
Sadly at the relative young age of 62, Sherwen died unexpectedly of heart failure on Sunday.
