First HalfLeeds started at a fast pace, with Pablo Hernandez forcing a save out of Ben Alnwick mere minutes into the game.
Wanderers responded with a chance of their own, as Craig Noone brushed past Barry Douglas before putting a tantalising delivery into the box aiming for Will Buckley, but Leeds goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell claimed well in the air.
Jamie Shackleton burst down the right flank, before finding Lewis Baker in the air, but the Chelsea loanee fizzed his header wide of the mark.
Leeds’ Baker lost out to Buckley midway through the half, but the Whites winger lost his footing as he charged through on goal.
Second HalfCraig Noone came out after the restart with the first chance for either side, as a counter attacking move saw the midfielder cut in from the right wing and fire towards goal, but his effort was narrowly off target.
Kalvin Phillips tried to get the visitors going with a long range effort sailing high and wide over Ben Alnwick’s crossbar.
Leeds took the lead five minutes past the hour mark as Patrick Bamford was played into the penalty area, where he ultimately dispatched from close range leaving Alnwick motionless.
Twenty minutes to go in the clash and Pablo Hernandez delivered the ball into the Whites area, but Phillips headed wide of the target.
Five minutes left on the clock and Jack Hobbs latched onto the end of a cross that was cleared off the line by a Leeds defender, inches away from the equaliser.
Mateusz Klich unleashed an effort from the edge of the 18 yard area, forcing a full stretch diving save from Alnwick down low to his left.
Wanderers midfielder Jason Lowe went close late on for Phil Parkinson’s men, with a low, powerful effort edging inches away from the bottom right corner.
