The Whites took the lead through a Will Buckley header in the second half, before the Robins second half substitutes Matty Taylor and Kasey Palmer both scored to earn Lee Johnson’s side the three points.
When speaking to bwfc.co.uk after the game, Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson covered the following topics…
On his assessment of the game…
“We had to ride our luck at times, as they are a very good side.”
“But we got the lead and are so disappointed that we didn’t show the resilience to see it through.
“Both goals we conceded were certainly avoidable from our point of view.
“We got a terrific goal to get us up by one and ultimately should have got a point from that one.”
On the frustration of losing a lead…
“I felt we grew into the first half as it went on and went into half time confident that if we could adjust one or two things, we could get something out of the game.”
“We just needed that resiliency to defend the box, block the shots and all the other things needed to keep the ball out of your net.
“It is frustrating that we let them back in it, albeit they made three substitutions which had a huge impact on the game.
On whether we deserved something from the game…
“I think going a goal up, you’d expect us to get something from the game.”
“Obviously, they have had a lot of balls flashed across our six yard box, but I think the effort level was there to get a point.”
On a mad five minutes costing Wanderers…
“Yes I think so. We just needed that bit of calmness and resilience to see out that tough period.”
“Their three subs came on and lifted the crowd quite a lot.
“There are certain areas in each of the goals that, when we look back at them, we could have done better.”
On the positives we can take from today’s game…
“I think we have taken a good team very close, one that possess a lot of talent.”
“We did look a threat at times during the game which is promising.
“We need to get better and we know that.
“We have a good period on the training ground now to work.”
On the upcoming West Bromwich Albion clash…
“After next Monday we go into an interesting period of games, with Bristol coming up again in that run.”
“This week ahead gives us the opportunity to get players up to speed with a solid stint on the training pitch.
“We’ve planned the week out and hopefully will be ready for the next test.”
