I've been asked this question on Bolton Nuts Facebook group:

Hello, Quick question to identify a football match in our film archive. I think we've pinned this down to Bolton winning the 3rd Divison in 1972/73. The footage shows Bolton scoring 2 goals and some after match shots of them with the trophy held up by Jimmy Armfield. I need to know who the other team are in the yellow/blue and the final score. It was a home game for Bolton in March or April 73 judging by the angle of sunlight. Can you advise? Thanks.

Can anyone help?

I would guess Shrewsbury as they normally wear yellow and blue and google images of their 1973 kit seem to fit the bill. And we beat them 2-0 on 13 April.

I remember the third division trophy being presented to Warwick Rimmer after we defeated Brentford, who were already relegated, 2-0 at Burnden.

Brentford normally have a red and white kit. It could be their alternative of course although why they would be wearing that is a bit of a mystery.

Yes. I've just checked, and Brentford was our final game of the season. Brentford do usually play in red and white stripes, so I can only guess this was an alternative strip.
We played Shrewsbury on March 21st, and I think that would have been too early for a presentation. They did beat the Shrews 2-0 though.

The Shrewsbury match was an away game and Brentford's away shirts are usually Yellow and Blue.

I think, given the presentation, it has to be Brentford despite the kit colours.

Still seems odd that they weren't wearing their usual kit though.
