The first name on Steve Bruce's team sheet at Sheffield Wednesday has got to be the diminutive Barry Bannan.

The ex-BWFC midfielder controlled the game from beginning to end in our 2-0 defeat recently, and was showboating at times.

Conversely, while at Bolton, he struggled to get a first-team appearance.

Luca Connell was wanted by at least three Premier League teams in the January transfer window and he too cannot get off the bench at Bolton.

The last five minutes against Sheffield Wednesday do not count – they were enough to show his class and for the short time he was on, he took control of the Bolton team – a star in the making.

Then there is Mark Little, who worked very well when played alongside Sammy Ameobi for many games last season on the right but is now nowhere to be seen in the Bolton line-up.

It is the same for Erhun Oztumer. Why?

Even our very own Zach Cloughm when he returned for a short spell, was not wanted by Phil Parkinson.

Granted, these observations cover the last two seasons but the common denominator in all these players are that they are all small in stature.

But they make up for that in every case because they have a good football brain and quality on the ball.

They also tend to have good leadership skills too.

But, none of them seem to fit the Parkinson specification of a Championship player.

These are just some of the reasons why we will now be relegated in my opinion.

Nat will tell you that they are all too lightweight.
