After the debacle at Wigan, both on and off the pitch, it was with heavy hearts we set off to BBC TV land in Shepherd's Bush to watch the Hoops drive the next nail into the Wanderers’ Championship coffin.

Mind you, that’s the least of our problems as our financial crisis rages on and new owners are still to be found before round two in our court battles against the taxman.

We unleashed our secret weapon, Hilary Stonefrost, in court last week and her performance once again puts her in pole position for ‘Defender of the Year’ again.

As we stopped for a full English breakfast at Norton Canes services, we bumped into Watford fans on their way to Old Trafford.

We were able to ask for their opinions on one of our potential saviours, Laurence Bassini, and most of their replies are not printable in a family newspaper.

But they did admit he did save them from liquidation, initially things were good and that he did eventually sell out to the current owners who have taken Watford onwards and upwards.

We managed real Doombar deliberations in the Central Bar in Shepherd's Bush and it was amazing how many QPR fans came up to us to express their sympathy at our current plight and to wish us well in the battles ahead.

We thought if only their team could be as charitable as their fans, maybe it could turn out to be a good day after all.

Big David Wheater replaced the injured Jack Hobbs and after a nervy start, we settled down and took control and thoroughly deserved this victory.

We could have been three or four up before Nahki Wells pulled one back but we confidently saw the match out.

The fans were brilliant from the off, fully behind the team, who responded with a fully-committed performance, restoring some pride in BWFC and keeping that small flame of hope still flickering.

It is still out of our hands but it is up to us to put some wins together and see where it will take us.

Once again, this week will be dominated by off-field events.

I’m hoping for a new owner who can give us financial stability first, where we can pay the bills.

Then I hope they have a sustainable plan to restore our fortunes on the pitch and give us a club we can be proud of again.
