Ryan Lowe expects plenty of Bury fans to be in attendance when Bolton Wanderers host Plymouth in the first round of the FA Cup.
The Shakers legend celebrated his third promotion with the club in May, his first as manager, only to depart for Argyle as financial problems gripped Gigg Lane.
That led to expulsion from the EFL with Bury facing liquidation when they return to the High Court in London on Wednesday to face a winding-up petition brought by HMRC.
A host of players joined Lowe at Home Park with the Argyle boss believing Shakers fans will make the short trip to supplement the supporters making the lengthy journey up from Devon to the University of Bolton Stadium for a competition he places plenty of importance on.
“We will probably have about 1,000 Bury fans there as well, which will be good,” Lowe, who put his boots back on for a Shakers legends game at the weekend, told Plymouth Live.
“It is another opportunity for us, the FA Cup is a great, fantastic cup.
“The first one I ever played in I was made up to get on Match of the Day.
“I was never going to get on Match of the Day and I think the FA Cup shows on Match of the Day, doesn’t it? That was great.”
Lowe is ready for a real test against an improving Wanderers side who picked up their first win of the season, beating Bristol Rovers 2-0 on Tuesday night.
Argyle are eighth in League Two, one point outside the play-off places, ahead of today’s derby at Exeter, having gone unbeaten in their six matches as the former Bury boss shapes a side looking at another promotion bid.
“It is going to be a tough task for us, we know that,” Lowe said of facing Wanderers.
“They are in a little bit of a transition with everything that is going on and Keith Hill and (David) Flitcroft who are there now, will have the players right up for it.
“We’re going there with no pressure, we will probably go there as underdogs but we will probably take three, four, 5,000 fans there.
“If we can get 1,000 from Bury, that’ll be nice, which I am sure we will if we do it right to help the Green Army sing us along.
“It is going to be a fantastic occasion when we get to that.”
The tie is provisionally scheduled for Saturday, November 9 with final details to be confirmed.
